Explore Ontario by bike

Have you considered exploring Ontario by bike? There’s a lot to explore in a province whose total area is just a little larger than France, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland combined! Fortunately, there are resources available that make it a little less daunting.

The Ontario By Bike™ Network is a project of Transportation Options, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering sustainable mobility and tourism solutions across Ontario. They engage in projects that research, develop and promote new transportation and tourism choices, with a focus on those that are integrated, environmentally sound, healthy, service-oriented and improve the experience of users.

They have put together a very nice website packed with ideas, resources, maps, events and advice on riding in Ontario:

Cycling in Ontario guideThey’ve done a really great job of pulling together an awful lot of information on routes, rides, tours and bicycle-friendly businesses that you can navigate in a number of ways. It’s both road rides and trail rides, with information on breweries and other attractions around the province. They also have a great 40-page annual guide available in both French and English.

We’ll be riding two organized events in Ontario this summer, Cambridge Tour De Grand in June and the MEC London Century ride in July. We’d love to hear about other events that you participate in - let us know.
